If you’re here, that likely means you’re thinking about eloping in Las Vegas. First of all, how exciting. Las Vegas was actually named as one of the 17 Best Places to Elope Around the World by Vogue, and maybe I’m a little biased, but I’d have to say that I agree.
Maybe you’re wondering how hard it is to elope in Las Vegas? As the wedding capital of the world, they actually make it pretty straight forward. And as a Las Vegas elopement photographer who captures hundreds of elopements every year, I’ve helped many couples understand the process of eloping in Vegas. I’ve seen it all, and now I’m going to help you too, so let’s get started.

Yes, after you fill out your marriage application, get one witness (can be your photographer), and an officiant.
Yes, as long as you have your marriage license, get married by a legal officiant, and have one witness (which can be me).
I love The Little White Wedding Chapel, Sure Thing Chapel, or That Chapel Downtown for Las Vegas elopements. Keep scrolling to see my favorite chapel options for more details.
There is no waiting period. You can get married the same day you get your marriage license. You don’t need an appointment for your marriage license either, so it can happen quick.
You’ll need your government issued identification with your photo such as your license or passport. Check out my Las Vegas elopement requirements section below for more details.

Before we get into everything, let’s go over the requirements you’ll need to meet before you really start planning. To legally elope in Las Vegas, you must meet all of the legal requirements listed below:
If you meet these requirements, then let’s move on to how to get your marriage license in Las Vegas. Need to see more details on the requirements? Check that out here.

Like I said, getting eloped in Las Vegas is fairly easy. Below is a easy two step way to get your Las Vegas marriage license. Check out Clark County Government Website for more details if you need.

Once you’re sure that you want to elope in Las Vegas, now it’s time to decide on your date and figure out your budget! Las Vegas gets HOT in the summer, so if the heat bothers you, you may want to consider eloping during the cooler months. Keep scrolling to see the best times of year to elope in Las Vegas.
And as far as your budget goes, this will depend on whether you’re bringing guests or just you and your partner. I work with couples who have all spent different. I actually make a few TikTok’s recapping my couples expenses (with their permission of course). I’ll link those below.

Las Vegas is a year-round destination, which means you can elope here at any time of year. That said, the experience can vary a lot depending on the season, especially when it comes to weather and crowds.
If you want my honest recommendation, my favorite time of year for Las Vegas elopements is March and November. These are the golden months to elope here, thanks to mild temperatures, minimal tourists, and really beautiful lighting.
Spring is one of the best times to elope in Las Vegas, with March being a standout month. Temperatures are typically mild, making it perfect for outdoor ceremonies. It’s also a popular season for elopements, so you’ll want to plan ahead and book your vendors early.
Summer in Las Vegas is hot. Like, really hot.
Daytime temperatures reach well over 100°F, which can make outdoor ceremonies uncomfortable if you’re not prepared. If you’re planning a summer elopement, I recommend:
– Scheduling your ceremony at sunrise or after sunset
– Choosing an indoor location like a chapel or hotel
– Or heading somewhere shaded or higher elevation
That said, summer can still be a great option if you plan strategically.
Fall is another favorite for Las Vegas elopements, especially in November. The temperatures cool down significantly, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor elopements.
You’ll still get warm tones and beautiful light, without the extreme heat of summer.
Winter in Las Vegas is much cooler, with daytime temperatures typically ranging from the 50s to 60s.
It’s a great option if you want to avoid crowds and enjoy a more relaxed experience. Outdoor ceremonies are still doable, but you’ll want to plan for layers, especially for early mornings or evenings.

Once you have your date set, it’s time to book your flights and hotel. Las Vegas has no shortage of options, but not all hotels are created equally.
You want a space that not only feels good to stay in, but also looks good. A lot of my couples book time for photos in their hotel room or suite, so your accommodations can end up being part of your overall experience and gallery.
Think clean light, neutral tones, and a space that feels elevated without needing much added to it.

Officiant (If Not Provided by Your Venue): If you’re not getting married at a chapel that includes one, you’ll need to book an officiant. This is important for outdoor or custom location elopements.

As a Las Vegas elopement photographer whose captured so many elopements, here are a few things that will make your day smoother, more fun, and feel a lot more like you:
Hire a photographer who gets your vision: This matters more than anything. You want someone who understands your style and can guide you without it feeling forced.
Splurge on hair and makeup: It makes a difference in your photos and holds up in the Vegas heat.
Bring props that feel like you: Champagne, a cake, fun sunglasses, rent a classic car, whatever fits your vibe. It adds personality and gives you something to interact with.
Don’t forget to eat and stay hydrated: It sounds simple, but it’s easy to forget once the day gets going.
Book dinner in advance: Reservations go fast in Las Vegas, especially for larger groups. If you’re still deciding, check out my guide to 25+ Las Vegas Elopement and Micro-Wedding Reception Locations.
Bring comfortable shoes: You’ll be doing more walking than you think, especially if you’re hitting multiple spots.
Check if your location requires a permit: Some outdoor locations and venues require permits, so it’s good to look into this ahead of time.
Plan around lighting and crowds: Midday sun can be harsh, and popular areas get busy. A little planning here goes a long way.
Have a backup plan for wind or weather: Vegas wind can be unpredictable, so staying flexible helps.
Bring cash for tips: Helpful for vendors, drivers, and small services throughout the day.
Do what feels like you: There’s no right way to elope. This day should reflect you!

Of course, you don’t have to get married at a Chapel. There are tons of options when it comes to eloping in Las Vegas. With that being said, most couples do choose a chapel for the experience of a Vegas elopement and because it makes things quick and easy.
One thing to keep in mind is choosing a venue that allows for outside vendors such as the photographer of your choice. Unfortunately, some venues only allow you to use their photographer, so I’m going to list my favorite chapels that allow you to bring your own below, or you can also check out my Top 10 Wedding Chapels in Las Vegas, Nevada For Your Wedding blog post.

A lot of couples choose to celebrate with an intimate dinner, whether that’s just the two of you or meeting up with a small group of friends and family. It’s a great way to slow things down and take it all in.
