You can keep things simple with a chapel ceremony and drinks afterward, or turn it into a full day experience with outfit changes, florals, a vintage car, dinner, and whatever else feels like you. And if you’re looking for Las Vegas elopement ideas and the best ways to customize your wedding day, then you’re in the right place.

After photographing hundreds of Vegas weddings and elopements, I’ve seen couples make their days personal in different ways. These ideas are meant to help you figure out what actually feels like you, without adding things just for the sake of doing more.

1.) Start With the Kind of Elopement Day You Actually Want

Before you start picking out all the fun details, sit down with your partner and talk about what you actually want your day to feel like. Maybe you want the full classic Vegas experience with a chapel, a vintage car, and cocktails afterward. Or maybe you’re picturing something more editorial and fashion-focused, or a laid-back day with just the two of you checking out downtown. You could even turn your elopement into a full wedding weekend with dinner and your favorite people.

There’s so many fun Las Vegas elopement ideas out there, but you definitely don’t need to use all of them. Start with the kind of experience you want, then choose the details that actually make sense for the two of you.

2. ) Choose a Ceremony Location That Fits Your Style

Your ceremony location is one of the biggest things that will shape the overall feel of your elopement. Las Vegas has everything from classic old-school chapels to colorful retro spaces, modern venues, and more natural ceremony settings like desserts.

Think about the kind of experience and photos you’re drawn to. Do you want something vintage and nostalgic? Colorful and playful? More polished and editorial? The venue you choose can help bring all of your Las Vegas elopement ideas together before you even start thinking about the smaller details.

Your wedding outfits can completely change the feel of your photos, especially in Vegas. You can go full vintage, choose something sleek and modern, lean into western details, wear a short dress, add a statement veil, or pick something totally different.

I’ve even had clients have custom wedding attire made from out of the country because they wanted something that felt completely unique to them. My husband had his own suit custom made by Addicted Bespoken, so I’m definitely a fan of going custom when you have a specific look in mind.

And if one outfit doesn’t feel like enough, you can always plan a second look for later in the day. A ceremony outfit and a different look for dinner, Fremont, or nighttime photos can give you even more variety without changing the entire plan.

Your wedding flowers definitely don’t have to mean carrying a traditional bouquet. I’ve photographed everything from colorful statement bouquets to floral purses, sculptural designs, and other unique arrangements. If you want to do something a little weird or different, Vegas is a pretty perfect place for it.

Some Las Vegas chapels include bouquets or floral options in their packages, which can be convenient if flowers aren’t a huge priority for you. But working with your own florist gives you so much more freedom to choose the colors, shape, flowers, size, and overall style that actually fit your vision.

One of my biggest tips is to spend some time scrolling through Instagram before choosing your florist. Look through posts from Las Vegas florists, photographers, planners, and venues and pay attention to who is tagged on the floral designs you keep saving. Florists can have completely different styles, so finding someone whose work you already love is one of the easiest ways to make this part of your elopement feel like you.

5.) Personalize Your Ceremony

Your ceremony can be as traditional or as unique as you want it to be. You can write your own vows, choose a song that actually means something to you, walk in together, have Elvis officiate, exchange personal rings, or keep the whole thing short and sweet.

If you’re inviting guests, you can also think about how involved you want them to be. Some couples keep the ceremony really intimate and save the bigger celebration for dinner or drinks afterward, while others want everyone there for the full experience.

Getting from one location to the next doesn’t have to be the boring part of your elopement. In Vegas, your transportation can become part of the experience and part of your photos too.

You could rent a vintage car, book a classic limo, choose a convertible, or find something that fits the overall look of your day. I’ve photographed couples with cars that ended up becoming some of my favorite parts of their galleries because they added so much personality without needing another location.

Grab pizza, order cocktails, play a few slots, stop at a photo booth, get tattoos, go out for dessert, check out Fremont Street, or make a dinner reservation somewhere you’ve been excited to try. It can be something planned ahead or something spontaneous that sounds fun in the moment.

You definitely don’t need a traditional wedding cake just because you’re getting married. If you love cake, absolutely get one. But you can also do donuts, pizza, champagne, martinis, late-night fries, or whatever you’d actually be excited to eat and drink together.

I’ve photographed couples with everything from vintage heart cakes to food truck stops, and both can feel just as intentional. The point is to choose something that fits the kind of day you’re already planning. 9.) Bring a Few Personal Details

You don’t need a ton of little details to make your elopement feel personal. A few meaningful or visually fun pieces can go a long way. And if you know me, I love to get creative for my couples when it comes to their detail shots.

That could be custom matchbooks, vow books, champagne glasses, jewelry, cufflinks, playing cards, a newspaper, a cake topper, or even a family heirloom you want photographed. The best details are usually the ones that either mean something to you or fit naturally with the rest of the day.

10.) Use Hair & Makeup to Complete the Look

Professional hair and makeup is another way to pull your whole elopement look together, especially if you’re going for something specific like vintage waves, bold glam, soft makeup, or a more editorial style.

Vegas has so many talented artists who can create completely different looks, so I always recommend finding someone whose work already matches what you’re drawn to. Look through Instagram, check tagged vendor posts, and save examples that feel like you.

And if professional hair and makeup isn’t your thing, that’s totally fine too. The goal isn’t to look like a different person. It’s just another option for making your Las Vegas elopement feel more intentional and true to your style.

11.) Add Film or Vintage Video Coverage

The way your elopement is photographed can add just as much personality as the details you plan. If you love a more nostalgic look, film is such a fun add-on to your gallery and gives you a totally different feel alongside your digital photos.

I also offer a vintage video add-on for couples who want little moving moments from the day too. It’s perfect for capturing things like walking through Fremont, with a vintage car, getting ready in the hotel, at the chapel, etc.

You don’t need every type of coverage, but if you’re looking for that nostalgic, old-school Vegas feel, film or vintage video can be a fun way to make your final gallery feel even more like you.

12.) Give Yourself Enough Time for the Day You Want

I’m very Type A, so I love a good plan. But one thing I see pretty often is couples booking a shorter photography package and then realizing the timeline doesn’t actually leave enough room for everything they pictured doing.

If you want a chapel ceremony, multiple photo locations, a vintage car, drinks, dinner, an outfit change, or anything else, you have to give yourself enough time to actually enjoy it. Trying to squeeze too much into a short window usually means rushing from one thing to the next.

And even the best planned timeline can shift. Vegas traffic might be worse that day, getting ready could take longer than expected, parking can be a pain, or just getting from one location to the next can take more time than you thought. Building a little breathing room into your coverage gives us flexibility when that happens.

I’d much rather have extra time to stop for a drink, play a few slots, or take advantage of something fun we came across than have you watching the clock all day. Plan well, give yourself some wiggle room, and let the day actually feel like a wedding instead of a checklist.
