First, here are some quick answers to some frequently asked questions on eloping in Vegas. Keep in mind we’ll dive deeper into some of these things later on in the guide!
Q: “Can you just elope in Vegas?”
A: Yes, after you fill out your marriage application, get one witness (can be your photographers), and an officiant. Of course, you’re going to want a rad photographer to capture your photos, too. đ
Q: “Is eloping in Vegas legit?”
A: Yes, as long as you have your marriage license, get married by an officiant, and have one witness (which can be me!)
Q: “Where is the best place to elope in Las Vegas?”
A: I love The Little White Chapel, Sure Thing Chapel, or That Chapel Downtown for Las Vegas elopements! See my Choose Your Las Vegas Elopement Chapel section below for more details!
Q: “How many days do you have to be in Vegas before getting married?”
A: There is no waiting period! You can get married the same day you get your marriage license. You don’t need an appointment for your marriage license either, so it can happen quick!
Q: “What documents do I need to get married in Las Vegas?”
A: You’ll need your government issued identification with your photo such as your license or passport. Check out my Las Vegas elopement requirements section below for more deets!
How to Elope in Las Vegas: Elopement Requirements
Before we get into everything, letâs go over the requirements youâll need to meet before you really start planning and getting all excited!
- Must be 18 years old
- Must provide government identification to prove your age and identity.
- Must not be currently married
- You cannot be any nearer kin than second cousins or cousins of half blood.

Decide on Your Date and Your Budget
Once youâre sure that you want to elope in Las Vegas, now itâs time to decide on your date and figure out your budget! Las Vegas gets HOT in the summer, so if the heat bothers you, you may want to consider eloping during the cooler months.
As far as your budget goes, this will depend on whether youâre bringing guests or just you and your partner.
How to Elope in Las Vegas: 2 Easy Steps to Getting Your Marriage License
Like I said, getting eloped in Las Vegas is fairly easy! Below is a easy two step way to get your Las Vegas marriage license. Check out Clark County Government Website for more details if you need!
Step 1: Apply Online
Apply for your marriage license. You can actually apply online which makes it very easy. Make sure to save the confirmation number they give you and bring it with you into step 2.
Step 2: Pick Up Your Marriage License
Youâll both then want to go to the Clark County Marriage License Bureau. You do NOT need to make an appointment. There will be a $102 fee ($105.29 with the convenience fee if you have to pay via a debit or credit card.)
Choose and Book Your Vendors
Las Vegas is well known as the âwedding capital of the worldâ and a popular wedding destination. With that said, wedding and elopement vendors get booked up quickly. That’s why itâs so important to book your preferred vendors as soon as you know your date and budget.
The worst feeling is having to turn away a couple wanting me to capture their elopement because Iâm already booked, so reach out ASAP! When you work with me, Iâll also give you some ideas for other vendors in the area if you need that are top notch!

Choose Your Las Vegas Elopement Chapel
Of course, you don’t have to elope at a Chapel. With that being said, most do for the experience of a Vegas elopement and because it makes things quick and easy.
One thing to keep in mind is choosing a venue that allows for outside vendors such as the photographer of your choice. Unfortunately, some venues only allow you to use their photographer, so Iâm going to list my fav chapels that allow you to bring your own below, or check out my “Top 10 Wedding Chapels in Las Vegas, Nevada For Your Wedding” blog post!
1.) The Little White Chapel
As itâs pretty iconic and world famous, youâve probably already heard of The Little White Chapel with its 24 hour drive-thru tunnel of love. So iconic that itâs been chosen by some famous people as well! Iâve photographed many couples who have eloped in Las Vegas here, and itâs always a great time.
The Little White Chapel has several different elopement packages to choose from and your bouquet can be included in your wedding package as well!

2.) Sure Thing Chapel
Another favorite chapel of mine is Sure Thing Chapel. They also have several different Las Vegas elopement packages to choose from and experiences! Aside from that, I love that Sure Thing Chapel is right on Fremont Street which if you’re unfamiliar, is a pretty big hub spot in Las Vegas.

3.) That Chapel Downtown
Set to open in May of 2024 is a new Las Vegas wedding chapel known as That Chapel Downtown. This Las Vegas wedding chapel will be perfect for the modern couple seeking a sleek and modern look for the backdrop of their elopement!
